Factors of osteoporosis-

1. Small body frame
2. Elderly person in the family; especially women who have bone fractures or hunchback.
3. No matter natural menopause or due to ovarian surgical resection, women entering menopause before 45 years old will encounter lack of estrogen.
4. Lack of estrogen caused by Amenorrhea (abnormal situation with no menstrual)
5.Low calcium diet
6. Lifestyle that is lack of exercises
7. White women and Asian women have higher risk of osteoporosis whereas African-American and Hispanic women have lower risks.
8. Smoking
9. Drinking habit
10. Dosage of a certain medicine for a too long duration. These medicines could be adrenal glucocorticoids for asthma, a series of anti-inflammatory drugs for arthritis and certain cancers as well as anti-epileptic drugs for excessive Thyroid hormones.

Overall, osteoporosis is a disease of bone metabolic disorders. Its real cause is not determined yet. However, the medical community believes that it is related to the factors below:
1、Aging: a natural phenomenon of aging human body.
2、Declining estrogen: Estrogen can stimulate formation of bone mass and inhibits bone decomposition. If some women stop or reduce the secretion of estrogen due to ovarian surgical resection or menopause, osteoporosis will be accelerated.
3、Imbalance nutrition: inadequate calcium intake or diet with high-protein and high salt. Smoking and drinking.
4、Irregular lifestyle: Lack of exercises and sunshine.
5、Diseases: Suffering from kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, rheumatoid arthritis, Ankylosing spondylitis, or certain cancers.
6、Drugs: long-term intake of steroids, anticancer drugs, diuretics, anti-clotting agent, gastric pills or painkillers.
7、Genetic: Osteoporosis is hereditary.
